our BEGINNINGS...
On February 12th, 2014, a Facebook page was born. This Facebook page titled 'Close NYC Schools During Snow Emergencies' began as a small community for people to vent their feelings on why school should have been closed on such a horrible day. Over night the page gained 2,000 likes and continued to grow. By the end of the third day, the page grew to nearly 35,000 likes and received attention from the local news stations and news papers. This Facebook page has gained attention nationwide and now WORLDWIDE. With over 55,000 likes, the page continues to grow.
Since day one the goal was to have the voices of NYC heard. Well ladies and gentlemen, we have been heard! Now it's time to continue this journey that we are on. Although it doesn't snow year round, the issues within the NYCDOE remain. This blog and the Facebook page are not here to bash the Mayor or Chancellor, but to help them learn from their mistakes and know that NYC cares about their children's education along with their safety.
As much as the children are important, so is the faculty and staff. Without you, there wouldn't be a schools system; whether you're a teacher or a janitor, anybody and everybody is a key component to the success of a child's education.
