FIXING NYC PUBLIC SCHOOLS: A NEW KIND OF BLOG
Welcome! To those of you who are new here, this journey began way back on February 12th, 2014 on a website the world has come to know as Facebook. I started a small Facebook page to raise awareness about the issues within the NYCDOE and quickly grew to a community of about 54,000 people. I've been dedicating a part of my time to getting the voices of NYC heard and I'm proud to say that we have definitely been heard, from coast to coast and even across the waters! I am excited to continue this movement, not only Facebook and Twitter, but now here on Weebly.com! Here on this blog I will be able to share more about our movement with the people of New York and beyond. I will be sharing my deepest thoughts about issues within the NYCDOE on this blog along with my past, present and future posts to Facebook. A whole new horizon is opening up and I'm glad that you are all going to become a part of this journey. Let's begin shall we...
OuR AnthemA song that best describes our movement is "Brave" by Sara Bareilles. Some of the lyrics read as follows:
Everybody’s been there, Everybody’s been stared down by the enemy Fallen for the fear And done some disappearing, Bow down to the mighty Don’t run, just stop holding your tongue Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live Maybe one of these days you can let the light in Show me how big your brave is Say what you wanna say And let the words fall out Honestly I wanna see you be brave With what you want to say And let the words fall out Honestly I wanna see you be brave |
This song is such an amazing anthem, not only to our movement but to our world. Nobody should be silenced in this world, so don't be! Say what you want to say and let the words fall out! Honestly, I want to see you be brave!
